Police said Miller and Arndt knew each other because she had plans to enlist in the U.S. Army Reserve after she graduated from high school.

The bodies were discovered around 10 a.m. by police who were following up on a tip that the Miller was at Arndt’s residence, police said. Police had to force their way inside after they were unable to make contact.

In a letter sent home to parents, Rockville High principal Debra S. Munk described Miller as an active member of the senior class, an honors student and a member of the varsity lacrosse team.

“For those of you who did not know Michelle, we ask that you respect our sadness and support us with your understanding,” Munk said in the letter.
