Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Rockville Monday

Police: Man, woman struck by SUV, ejected from Ducati.

Police said a man on a motorcycle was killed in a crash Monday morning in Rockville.

Police are withholding the man’s identity pending notification of his family.

The crash was reported at around 9 a.m. at Montrose Road and Tower Oaks Boulevard, Montgomery County police said in a news release Monday.

A 2006 Toyota Highlander traveling east on Montrose Road was turning left onto northbound Tower Oaks when it struck a Ducati 848 traveling west on Montrose, police said.

The unidentified man, who was driving the Ducati, and a female passenger were ejected from the bike, which police said went up in flames.

The motorcycle driver died at the hospital; the passenger was seriously injured, but the injuries weren’t considered life-threatening, police said.

The driver of the Toyota, Peggy Lee, 52, of  Rockville, was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police said the circumstances of crash are under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
