Summer break is nearly here. That means no school and plenty of time for fun. It’s also time for camp. Here are some suggestions for finding specialty and general camps in and around Rockville: When you click on the links to the camps listed above, you'll also find teen camps and pre-school camps. In honor of Read Across America Day we went to the library.
Readers from schoolchildren to adults celebrated Read Across America Day on Wednesday in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday. The annual celebration, established by the National Education Association, is a way to encourage reading. But there's no reason why it only has to last one day. The NEA Web site has links to books and other material to keep you going for a while. We also asked Heather Wright, Rockville Memorial Library's children's librarian, for her top five children's fantasy books. Here are her picks for Harry Potter and Percy Jackson fans: Grab a copy, find a comfortable spot, and lose yourself in a book!

Nonprofit organizations provide a range of services that meet needs not met by traditional corporations. In Rockville, nonprofit and for-profit are partners. With the Rockville Rewards program, nonprofits sell cards offering discounts at city businesses. The $25 sale price of each card goes directly to the nonprofit for its operations.
