77-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck at Aspen Hill Bus Stop

Maria Lusminia Colindres, 77, died of her injuries at the hospital Thursday.

Updated 11 p.m.: A 77-year-old woman was fatally struck by an SUV as she sat at a bus stop in Aspen Hill on Thursday, police said. According to police, Maria Lusminia Colindres of the 3700 block of Delano Street in Silver Spring was seated at a bench on Veirs Mill Road and Ferrara Avenue when a 1996 Ford Explorer left the roadway and drove into the bus shelter.  Colindres died of her injures at the hospital. Police said the Ford Explorer’s driver, Cheryl Denise Green, 56, of Rockville, was traveling east on Veirs Mill and had made a U-turn at Ferrara—clipping a curb, crossing three lanes of traffic on westbound Veirs Mill, driving over the median and then back across the eastbound lanes of Veirs Mill before driving into the bus shelter …

Woman Knocked Unconscious After Rockville Pike Hit-And-Run

Hit-and-run reported last week at Rockville Pike, at Cedar Lane.

BETHESDA—A hit-and-run on Rockville Pike knocked a female pedestrian unconscious last week. Police said Michelle Eyre De Sam, 35, of Bethesda, was hospitalized with serious injuries but is expected to survive, Montgomery County police said Wednesday. De Sam was struck by a vehicle as she crossed Rockville Pike at Cedar Lane at around 9:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, police said. Another driver found her lying in the road. Police have asked anyone with information about the hit-and-run to call 301-279-8000, or (to remain anonymous) 1-866-411-TIPS.

Updated, 3 p.m., June 12: County police say that a 22-year-old man was struck by a train on Monday night while playing “a game” with a 21-year-old woman, The Washington Examiner reported. UPDATE: Police Identify Victim in Hit-And-Run in Aspen Hill

Alonso Rodriguez, 24, of Bethesda, was found dead on Norbeck Road early Saturday.

Update, 2 p.m., Feb. 25: Police have identified the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run incident on Norbeck Road early Saturday morning as Alonso Rodriguez, 24, of the 7400 block of Westlake Terrace in Bethesda. Police believe that a vehicle on Norbeck Road near Westbury Road struck Rodriguez between 2:20 a.m. and 3:24 a.m., when emergency units responded to a call from a motorist, police said in a news release. The motorist reported that a pedestrian had been struck, attempted to aid Rodriguez and remained on the scene, where emergency units found Rodriguez dead, police said. A preliminary investigation revealed that Rodriguez was socializing with two friends late Friday night into Saturday, the release said. About 2:20 a.m., the vehicle …

Update, 11:55 p.m., Dec. 7: Montgomery County police issued the following news release late Wednesday: "Detectives from the Montgomery County Police-Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a pedestrian collision that occurred on Rockville Pike near Halpine Road. On today's date at approximately 5:57 p.m., 1st District officers and Rockville City Police officers responded to a personal injury collision involving a pedestrian and a Ride On at the intersection of Halpine Road and Rockville Pike (Route 355). Preliminary investigation indicates that a Ride On bus was in the westbound lanes of Halpine Road attempting to turn right onto northbound Rockville Pike.
