This is a tough one. If I'm more concerned about being on time than the child is, I'm more invested in this than my child is. That tells me I'm pushing. The next question is whether I'm pushing because this is something I really want her to do or because it's something I want her to try. If it's because I really want this for her - I'm pushing in a not-so-great way If it's because it's something …   more ›

I know that choosing our healthcare providers is one of the most important things that I do but I don't have time to interview them. Instead, I rely heavily on the recommendation of others. We love our pediatrician, Dr. Marquis, who is with Metropolitan Pediatrics in North Bethesda. She is part of Dr. Kulp's practice.   more ›

Homework just has to be done. I find for the most part there is not an overabundance, although there are the occasionaly times where it is piled on. My kids don't usually like to do it right after school because of activities, play dates or just needing some down time, so some nights get late, but we try to get most of it done before dinner since we tend to eat on the later side.   more ›

I breastfed my son in public but I never did it in a way that called attention to what I was doing. It seemed to me to be a private moment between me and my child. It wasn't something I was going to do in a dirty public restroom. Neither was it something I was going to go outside and sit in a cold car to do. It was simple enough to tuck him under my shirt and sit in a quiet spot where we could …   more ›
