Jewish Community Center offers low-impact, high energy Kangoo Jumps classes

Kangoo. That's not a misspelling of kangaroo, though the Kangoo Jumps exercise shoes that are popping up (and down) in fitness classes will make you bounce like the mighty marsupial. Think of an inline skate. Instead of wheels, Kangoo Jumps have a circular rebound platform on the bottoms that act as mini-trampolines. An anti-gravity exercise? I had to find out. I first saw the Kangoos at a fitness convention in the summer and was looking for a class to try. By chance, I heard about a class at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington in Rockville and decided to jump at the opportunity. JCC Book Festival Is A Chance to "Meet the Voice" Behind the Book

More than 6,000 titles — most with Jewish content — highlight 41st annual festival

When you think of French food, kugel isn't exactly what comes to mind. And it wasn't among the answers that audience members threw out when award-winning cookbook author Joan Nathan began her talk by posing the question: "What do you think of when you think of French food?" to a packed audience at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington's 41st Annual Book Festival on Sunday. In her just-published 10th book, "Quiches, Kugels, and Couscous," Nathan crisscrossed France in search of Jewish recipes and the stories behind them.
