August is just days away, and with it comes fair season. Check out some of the great fairs and festivals going on this month throughout Prince George's and Montgomery counties. Montgomery County Agricultural Fair Featuring over 40 rides, all your favorite carnival foods (think "fried Oreos") and tons of contests and exhibits, the annual Montgomery County Agricultural Fair has something for everyone. The fair will take place on Chestnut Street in Gaithersburg from Aug. 10 through 18, and tickets are $10, but if you happen to be 11 years old or younger, admission is free. The Safeway Barbecue Battle If you love to barbecue (or just love to eat it), don’t miss DC’s 20th annual Safeway Barbecue Battle on Saturday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Sunday, June 24, from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The battle occurs on Pennsylvania Avenue, where you can take your kids on rides, check out one of the 30 bands scheduled to perform or just hang out and eat delicious barbecue.
