The final report by the city’s Charter Review Commission, three public hearings and discussions of proposed changes to the city’s ethics ordinance and the city’s bid process are on the Rockville City Council’s agenda for Monday. CEO of Lockheed Martin said the company is "not in crisis" following the ethics-related resignation of a top executive, the Washington Business Journal reports.
Lockheed Martin CEO Bob Stevens revealed more details to reporters surrounding the ethics-related resignation of Christopher Kubasik, who had been the company's vice chairman, president and COO, The Washington Business Journal reports. Kubasik resigned Friday after an investigation conducted by an outside firm found he had a "close personal relationship" with a subordinate employee. He was set to succeed Stevens as CEO of the Bethesda-based defense giant in January. An employee who was not the person involved in the relationship came forward with the allegations in October, Stevens said, according to the Business Journal. Local elected officials across Maryland may soon have to disclose more information about property holdings and conflicts of interest.
The Rockville City Council and other elected officials in Montgomery County and across Maryland are currently weighing the merits of new ethics code requirements passed by the General Assembly in 2010 and set to take effect locally next year. The new requirements mandate that local ethics ordinances be at least as stringent as the state ordinance, which passed the General Assembly unanimously during the 2010 session. In many municipalities, including Rockville, elected officials will now have to disclose more information about property holdings and potential conflicts of interest. The Heritage Plan sounds great. So many events that took place in Rockville that are not recognized. Civil War battles or skirmishes in front of St. Mary's Church, Edmonston Dr. & the Pike and in front of current Woodmont GC entrance to name a few.
