VIDEO: Spaghetti Bridge Competition

County high school students tested spaghetti bridges they created on Friday at the Johns Hopkins University Montgomery County campus in Shady Grove. The weight tests were a competitive culmination to the campus's four-week-long Engineering Innovation program. Teams created bridges from uncooked spaghetti and epoxy and tested the bridges to see which could hold the most weight. The winning bridge held 22.7 kilograms (49.9 pounds). It was built by Allen Kao of Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, home school student Austin Joseph and Claire Wortmann of Sherwood High School in Sandy Spring.
