A man robbed the Food Express convenience store early Tuesday, police said.
Surveillance photos show a man Montgomery County police said is wanted for an armed robbery of a Rockville convenience store Tuesday. The man entered the Food Express convenience store at 16254 Frederick Road in Rockville at 1:14 a.m., approached the clerk and announced a robbery while displaying a black semi-automatic handgun, police said in a news release. The clerk complied with the suspect’s demand, giving him cash from the register, police said. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police released the photos Wednesday, asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect. The man is described as in his mid-20s, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and 180 to 200 pounds. Police: Byron Deshane Govan also is suspected of robbery in Alexandria, VA.
Montgomery County police have arrested a 27-year-old man from White Plains in connection with carjackings at Congressional Plaza in Rockville and near White Flint Mall in North Bethesda. Byron Deshane Govan was arrested earlier this month at his home in the 10000 block of Wamsley Court. He is charged with several counts of auto theft, carjacking, robbery and using a firearm during the commission of a crime. The first incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on Sept. 27. A 69-year-old woman returned to her 2012 Toyota Prius after making a transaction at the Wells Fargo bank ATM at 110 Congressional Lane in Congressional Plaza in Rockville. Police believe a suspect wanted for a Sept. 27 carjacking in Rockville is the same person wanted for an Oct. 11 robbery in Alexandria, VA. Police: Suspects created counterfeit checks drawn on business accounts.
Montgomery County police this week released surveillance photos of two people they say created and cashed counterfeit business checks totaling more than $10,000 over six days in June. A police investigation found the suspects illegally obtained business account information, which they then used to create the counterfeit checks, according to a county police news release. They later cashed the fraudulent checks at banks in Montgomery County and the Washington metropolitan area between June 6 and June 11, police said. Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes either suspect to call the Montgomery County Police Department’s Financial Crimes Section at 240-777-6330. Crime Solvers reward is $1,000 for information about the attack at Americana Centre.
Rockville City Police on Monday announced that Crime Solvers of Montgomery County, Maryland, Inc. is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest and conviction in a case in which two men used an electroshock weapon on a Rockville woman and stole her purse. The incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m on May 25 as the victim, a 28-year-old woman, attempted to unlock the door to her building at the Americana Centre apartments on Monroe Street. The woman received minor burns to her neck, chest and arm, police said. On June 3, police released photos taken from surveillance footage of the suspects at stores in Clinton and Capitol Heights where the suspects used the victim’s credit cards following the attack. Chili's Grill & Bar has announced a $25,000 reward to anyone who can aid police in the search for two men who robbed the restaurant at gunpoint on May 26. The reward is being offered in addition to the $1,000 reward already available through Crime Solvers of Montgomery County, Maryland, Inc. Police say two black men in their 30s, dressed in dark clothing, gloves and masks broke into a side entrance of the restaurant, located at 11428 Rockville Pike, around 11:40 p.m. on May 26 using a masonry-style hammer.
