A police chase that ended with a carjacking in Rockville injured two police officers and sent one unsuspecting motorist to the hospital on Wednesday, according to the statement of charges filed in Montgomery County District Court. Glenn V. Rhodes, 34, who has no fixed address, was charged with carjacking, assault and resisting arrest. The charges stem from a string of incidents that began with a traffic stop in White Oak, the court records show. Police said they tried to stop Rhodes at an off ramp on Columbia Pike in White Oak after they discovered the car he was driving had stolen tags. Two men have been arrested in connection with a Sunday night armed carjacking in Rockville's College Gardens neighborhood. Jose Maria Deduque, 20, of the 8500 block of Victory Lane in Potomac, and Kwajo Oteng-Agipong, 21, of Washington, DC, have been charged with armed carjacking, conspiracy to commit armed carjacking and motor vehicle theft after police say they threatened a food delivery worker and attempted to steal his car. A food delivery driver and his passenger were making a delivery stop in the 1600 block of Yale Place in Rockville around 8:50 p.m. Sunday, according to a Montgomery County police report. Montgomery County police have arrested a 27-year-old man from White Plains in connection with carjackings at Congressional Plaza in Rockville and near White Flint Mall in North Bethesda. Byron Deshane Govan was arrested earlier this month at his home in the 10000 block of Wamsley Court. He is charged with several counts of auto theft, carjacking, robbery and using a firearm during the commission of a crime. The first incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on Sept. 27. Two armed, masked men carjacked a Lexus at gunpoint on Sunday evening, Jan. 15, in the 10500 block of Weymouth Street, near the Rockville-Bethesda border, police said.
A carjacking occurred in the 10500 block of Weymouth Street, near the Bethesda-Rockville border, on Sunday evening, Jan. 15, according to the Montgomery County Police Department. The car—a black Lexus SUV with Maryland license plate No. 2MD2633—was taken at gunpoint from its driver—a commercial delivery driver—by two black men in their 20s. Both men were about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 160 pounds, and both wore masks and dark clothing, according to police. In addition to the SUV, the men took the commercial proceeds (an undetermined amount of money, police said) of the delivery driver's workday. The delivery driver was not harmed, police added.
