Rockville Bust Offers View of Prostitution in 21st Century, Police Say

Police: Women advertised services online and worked from a Shady Grove Road hotel.

  A stakeout of a Rockville hotel led to charges earlier this month against three women whom police say were selling sex using online ads, according to a city police spokesperson. The women, all from out-of-state, were arrested between 7 p.m. Jan. 15 and 10:21 p.m. Jan. 16, Rockville city police reported this week. Angela Maria Alvarez, 38, of Florida; Adriana Santiago, 39 of Florida; and Natalia Sklias-Bruyer, 25, of California are charged with prostitution, Rockville city police Maj. Michael England said. (Sklias-Bruyer is listed in online court records as Kristen Skias-Bruyere.) City police launched the investigation after a manager of the Hilton Garden Inn, 14975 Shady Grove Road, called police about 4 p.m. Jan. 15, England said. …

Two Charged in Armed Carjacking in Rockville

Police say the suspects were foiled by an inability to drive 'stick.'

  Two men have been arrested in connection with a Sunday night armed carjacking in Rockville's College Gardens neighborhood. Jose Maria Deduque, 20, of the 8500 block of Victory Lane in Potomac, and Kwajo Oteng-Agipong, 21, of Washington, DC, have been charged with armed carjacking, conspiracy to commit armed carjacking and motor vehicle theft after police say they threatened a food delivery worker and attempted to steal his car. A food delivery driver and his passenger were making a delivery stop in the 1600 block of Yale Place in Rockville around 8:50 p.m. Sunday, according to a Montgomery County police report.  As the driver returned to his vehicle, two suspects demanded the car at gunpoint, police said. Unraveling Friday's Commotion in Town Center

Police activity downtown played out in front of restaurant patrons and concert-goers.

The buzz of a gorgeous spring evening in Rockville Town Center on Friday was pierced with the sirens of speeding police cruisers and running police officers.  Patrons of the downtown business district were left wondering what was going on. Warm weather brought restaurant patrons dining al fresco and residents enjoying the Friday Night Live concert series on the Town Square Plaza. Germantown Man Arrested for Twice Stealing Cigarettes from Rockville 7-Eleven

Man threatened store employees in two incidents in May, police said.

A Germantown man has been arrested in connection with two robberies of a Rockville 7-Eleven in May, county police said in a news release on Thursday. Hector Damian Villarreal, 21, of the 18800 block of McFarlin Drive, in Germantown, is charged with two counts of robbery and is being held on $250,000 bond, the release said. Police allege that in two separate incidents in May, Villarreal stole cigarettes and threatened employees of the store at 9900 Key West Ave. Both events were captured on surveillance video, the release said. At around 3:44 a.m. on May 1, Villarreal allegedly entered the store and went behind the counter, removing cigarettes valued at $12 from the display, police said.
