Law Enforcement Apprentice Program (LEAP ) is part of the Special Operations Division, Volunteer…More Resources Section of the Montgomery County Police Department.
The program requires applicants be at least 16 years old, pass a background check and volunteer at least eight hours a week for six months. This includes biweekly training for a variety of law-enforcement aspects. Training focuses on officer safety, patrol procedures, radio communications, traffic laws, K-9, forensics, crimes and community policing. Volunteers work one-on-one with officers in the field, at special events and in the station.
