As Carroll County is one of the last places in suburban Maryland where it is relatively safe, thisRead More must be stopped at all costs. The democrats love illegal immigrants, so send them to an area where democrats live. We do not need MS-13 in Carroll County schools.
Paul Burkhardt July 12, 2014 at 12:52 pm
I find this absolutely sickening. I have a little girl going into second grade. Don't you think thisRead More will have an adverse affect on her class's ability to learn. A bunch of kids that can't even speak the language. Or are we suppose to provide special classes that will be taught in Spanish?
Bob Higginbotham July 12, 2014 at 05:38 pm
These are not "unaccompanied immigrant children" they are illegal aliens and every youngRead More kid has a mother with it. They have no business being in this country and if we let these criminals in our state then we are harboring criminals at least some of which truly are criminal members of a extremely vicious gang. The imposter in the WH is again violating our Constitutional rights as citizens. All those that voted for the despicable incompetent are getting what you deserve, unfortunately, the rest of us are forced to suffer the destruction of our country also.
Some residents are concerned about the possible redevelopment/rezoning of Bethesda Fire Station 6. File|Patch
Brigitta Mullican July 8, 2014 at 08:53 am
How do the neighbors feel about the noise the Fire Station makes now? Bet the people who will moveRead More into the apartments are not going to be concerned. For one who lives next to the CSX railroad I know we might not like the noise but we tolerate it. After all, we do need the rail and Metro. Life is full of compromises.
jag July 8, 2014 at 11:28 am
Fire station: tons of noise Apartment building: zero noise Chevy Chase already has poor trafficRead More because of housing sprawl up-county, yet they're suggesting pushing even more of the growth up-county instead of having it inside the beltway. It's like groundhogs day with these fools; NIMBYs trying to repeat the mistakes of previous NIMBYs.
New Georgia law tickets slow drivers getting in the way of faster cars. What do you think?
Jessie Grey July 6, 2014 at 10:34 am
This sounds like implies consent to speed - so if they do this legally they will not be able toRead More ticket for speeding.
Buck Harmon July 6, 2014 at 03:22 pm
This situation can not be improved upon by cops or laws...the push to enforce will fade away as fastRead More as it came about...another squeaky wheel will get the oil soon enough. We human beings are selfish, slow learners and it will take much more than perceived law enforcement to make a difference.
Paul Burkhardt July 6, 2014 at 06:54 pm
I'll tell you there ain't nothing that pisses me off more then the game of Harley riders in the fastRead More lane doing 50 mph. Blocking and impeding traffic and the cops just ride on by.
A new Georgia law allows districts to build policies for guns in hands of school staff. Schools aren't biting. What do you think? Patch file.

I also can't believe that you are saying a woman cannot be nurturing while also armed. Unbelievable.
Brent Seeger July 1, 2014 at 02:56 pm
Its a great idea. They root out communists and subversives and fifth columnists and Obama supportersRead More and run them out of town with the rest of the illegals.
Drewboo July 1, 2014 at 03:30 pm
Who said anything about a woman? You are obviously trying to start crap lol. Nice try though.Read More Newsflash - we have male teachers and male nurses in 2014... back to what you said about an armed citizen not being able to pull the trigger - my thoughts exactly. A kid is shooting up the school and an armed citizen just might not be able to look at the child and shoot them. Our society doesnt look at children as target practice, so when presented with a child with a gun, I dont buy that the average citizen would shoot a child. So what I get from this back and forth is that you folks have opinions that go back and forth however you like to make a point and then you also like to start crap either that or you cant read. Teachers who cant read.... interesting.

Fentanyl is not prescribed after surgery unless you have been on narcotics for a long while. WhileRead More this appears to be a problem on the streets, it has made those that need prescriptions to function nearly impossible and they are labeled/scrutinized. Someone that can appease both scenarios and has legitimate knowledge should be appointed to this "diversion control" effort. It is impossible to do right thing for everyone. If someone dies from a heroin overdose, so be it. It was their decision to use it in the first place.

Wow! This is fantastic! Now, how about if we put as much effort into synchronizing the trafficRead More signals so traffic can actually get out of the city, instead of hitting a green light, then arriving to the the next traffic just in time for it to turn red? You can rinse and repeat the procedure above until after you have left the city of rockville. Even the District of Columbia is able to manage traffic better than Rockville. That's just shameful!

The simple fact is Nothing will be done. it's only a veteran
Rick C Johnson June 24, 2014 at 07:07 pm
As a vet who was diagnosed with lung cancer associated with "agent orange" I wasRead More originally awarded future medical care but "Zero" disability because "Our records show you have already had half of your lung removed, and after it was shown to have spread to your lymph nodes your non-va doctors completed 4rounds of chemotherapy. The VA found that all this completed I was again 100% healthy. After 5 years and several appeals and several hundred pages of medical records later I am now rated at 80%. I can't begin to explain the long term physical effects of my treatment. But the hundreds of pages of medical records could. Again, the mental stress of 5 ++ years of fighting and continued denials and appeals HSS left me exhausted. It is no wonder the benefit caseload is so backed up. Their first course is ALWAYS to deny benefits. Resulting in appeals and further backlogs. Are there bonuses for denying benefits????
Steve D June 25, 2014 at 07:55 am
Yes, similar here to. I filled out my application 5 years ago, went through some business aboutRead More transferring my medical records from storage, that took 6 months, been waiting 4.5 years for my initial interview. I was told to get help from vfw and other folks to help get it through va, they didn't return my calls. After exposure to "special weapons" contents during desert storm I have a neurological issue, diabetes and am basically rotting from the inside out. I gave up on VA after a few years. I apparently have a couple presumptive conditions.
Politicians made concessions to casino operators with the introduction of table games and a sixth casino. (Credit: Elizabeth Janney)
Dean Smith June 23, 2014 at 01:02 pm
For some reason, I could see clearly that information from this article was going to occur. I basedRead More it on how funds from the Maryland lottery were handled (i.e. the same which are occurring now with the casinos) and other areas (such as Las Vegas and Atlantic City) whose area casinos haven’t been a benefit. Peter Franchot has mentioned for years about the negative aspects of gambling but hardly no one listened. The majority of Maryland citizens brought the idea that casino revenue would help horse racing and education. Even the casino companies and leaders of this current legislature sold a bill of goods that casinos revenue would help lower taxes. I don’t think an administration could do a worst job in handling the casino operations in Maryland as this one currently in office.
steven bradley June 23, 2014 at 01:53 pm
This is par for the course with this administration. Remember way back a couple years ago when aRead More trip through the tunnel was $1. That made it 2 dollars a day to go back and forth. Now it's $8. What happened to the transportation trust fund right before we started hearing the bridges and roads are falling apart and we need to raise fees to fix them?

We should have took over Cuba years ago and make it a US territory. We still should do this havingRead More to be concerned with a country less than 100 miles away is ubsurd.
Wm Thomas Capps July 3, 2014 at 01:14 pm
I feel bad for the guy being held in Cuba. That said this is what happens when you go to a communistRead More state. many Americans go to countries where the rule of law is backed by a dictator with a gun. It is very dumb to go to these countries as well as the middle east.

Just in case everyone's forgotten, it was county exec. Duncan who made MJ enforcement a priority inRead More order to further overcrowd the Rockville jail, in support of his push to move the jail to Clarksburg (Boyds, actually) where it inconvenienced the courts, the prosecutors, the sheriff. So that there would be no longer a jail in Duncan's personal neighborhood. Didn't work out that way, did it Doug?

R.U.Kidding June 15, 2014 at 10:22 pm
This state needs someone with a big set that is going to pull the plug on legislators in AnnapolisRead More and say no to any new taxes. Under the present administration, this state has been hit with more taxes and fee increase than you can shake a stick at. It's time we tried something different, a governor that reduces spending and taxing. Don't know if any of the candidates running are capable of that but I do know I won't be voting in the same sad excuse of a Lt. Governor as Governor - that's just plain stupid. Remember the gas tax and vehicle registration fees will be going up in July, another reason I have to not vote for Brown.

"Economic development" is a code word for corporate welfare. That he attends anRead More "economic development" conference in Vegas is a legitimate issue. It shows us that he is part of the legal corruption that dominates our state and the nation.

Come on folks, get over it. You are going to find scantily clad dancers almost anywhere you go inRead More Vegas. Or Baltimore, or DC, or any other city and many, many towns in the US. Good grief, this is no different than what you see on most TV shows, even before the 10pm hour when kids are supposed to be in bed. Do your kids get to watch South Park, King of the Hill, Two & a Half Men, Modern Family, etc? And just what are they looking at on the computer? U-Tube is loaded with "scandalous" things. .

An audit of Baltimore speed cameras found higher error rates than previously disclosed. Officials are urging checks of all such systems in the state. File|Patch
MoCoRes June 8, 2014 at 09:33 am
If speed and red light cameras are revenue raisers, then I don't think they are a very sustainableRead More one. People will figure out not to speed or run red lights (or in some cases avoid intersections with red light cameras) therefore reducing the fines (and revenue) generated by these things. They'll catch some people, but the majority of people will know about them and avoid the fines.
Mary Ellen Cote June 8, 2014 at 09:45 am
That is ridiculous. Do some research into how much money these cameras generate. They are totallyRead More sustainable. You give the public way too much credit.
Gary Elwards July 1, 2014 at 06:49 pm
"New requirements in schools zones include a sign warning of a speed camera in proximity to theRead More school zone sign." Shouldn't a speed limit sign be enough?

Duncan won't say one word of blame for the contractor, his former employer, Foulger-Pratt. IfRead More elected how aggressively will he push to force them to pay for the mistakes?
Bubba May 31, 2014 at 10:38 pm
And Ike won't lay one ounce of blame on his administration. And now he's admitting that the countyRead More may well end up paying millions for the fixes.
jag June 2, 2014 at 09:30 am
"The $112 million transportation hub is $80 million over budget" uh, no. As common senseRead More would suggest, the transit center is not $80M over budget. Heck, three sentences later you yourself even cite a source saying it's *only* $30M over budget. So sloppy.
