'The Squeaky Wheel'

Politicians, stop squeaking about the sequester and start trimming the waste the rest of us is paying for.

I've heard enough about the sequester. The sequester has done nothing but bring out the 'squeaky wheel' in those sitting in lofty government positions. Nobody wants to have their budget cut, so they make noise because someone else is making noise.

All the talk about deep budget cuts and austerity measures coming from government officials is, in my opinion, greatly exaggerarted. Tell me, how can budget cuts be so draconian if they're allocated over a ten year period? This whole sequester mess has gotten so out of hand that it's giving new meaning to, 'not in my back yard.'

Any rational adult hearing all the bitchin' going on about the sequester would say we're a bunch of freakin' cry babies. And they would be right. A little milk gets taken away and we scream and holler to the high heavens that we just can't make it anymore.

Listen, if you're a government department head and you can't manage a budget cut without the need to eliminate jobs or furlough staff members, perhaps you ought to be doing some other kind of work. If you were in the corporate world, you wouldn't be sitting in your cushy office complaining about budget cuts. You'd be putting pen to paper making those cuts happen. Period.

Sometimes, the problem with government is, too many people get to have a say in matters (I know, I know...'We the people...'). I bet if 'ol Fortune 500 Mitt Romney were in charge there'd be no complaining. Get it done, or get out!

Now, more than ever, is the time to shed waste, not the labor force. Government needs to stop shelling out six-hundred dollars for hammers. It needs to pare down an overinflated military budget. And, it needs to cut out some of those perks Congress enjoys. This is boot and belt tightening time. Our elected leaders need to lead by example, not by lip service.

So let it be said. So let it be done.
