PHOTOS: 'Doggedly' Pursing Olympic Fun in Rockville

Best Friend Pet Care catches the Olympic spirit with Doggy Olympic Games.

 

Humans weren't the only athletes catching the spirit of Olympic competition last week.

, at 5530 Randolph Road in Rockville, held a Doggy Olympic Games on Friday. The games featured dogs of all nations—from American bulldogs to French poodles to German shepherds—participating in wrestling, hurdles and the Kong doggy toy toss.

“Our doggy day camp regulars love to run, jump and wrestle, so we knew an Olympics Day would be a perfect event for us,” Renee Coughlin, vice president of marketing for Best Friends, said in a news release.  ”The best part of canine competition is that the really dogs don’t care who wins and who loses—they just love playing the games!”
