The screen adaptation of the Dr. Seuss favorite The Lorax will be shown on a big screen in Isreal Park behind the center, beginning at sundown, which is at 7:53 p.m. Thursday. (What better movie to show outdoors than the environmentally conscious Lorax?)

Thursday night will be a great night for an outdoor movie. So says the National Weather Service, which is forecasting partly cloudy skies (to make it more dark in park—all the better for movie projection) and an overnight low around 66.

The center has hosted movie nights before, but this is the first time outdoors, said center supervisor Yvette Yeboah.

“Bring chairs, dinner, food. We’ll have out there and small concessions [including popcorn] that we’re selling,” Yeboah said.

Blankets—and friends to share them—are welcome. Alcohol is not.

Cost is $5 per person. No registration required.

The outdoor movie had been scheduled for July 20—a Friday night—but was canceled due to rain.

Yeboah said she hoped the showing will draw a crowd, even though it’s midweek.

“We’ll do it again,” she said.
