Rockville High Hires Kenton as Football Coach
The former coordinator also teaches biology and coaches track at the school.
has named former assistant coach Seth Kenton as the school’s new head football coach.

Kenton, a Texas native, has worked the Rockville sidelines as the Rams’ defensive coordinator for the past three seasons.

“We’ll definitely be more successful than last year,” Kenton said. “We were 0-10, so we can go nowhere but up. There’s a lot of potential in the younger classes.”
The Columbia resident becomes the Rockville football program’s fourth head coach since 1998, following in the footsteps of Jack Freeman, Mark Maradei and Bernot.

The Rams compiled a 16-5 record and made playoff appearances in Kenton’s first two seasons at Rockville. He also served a stint as Sherwood’s junior varsity head coach and led the Warriors to an unbeaten 9-0 season in 2008.
Kenton’s familiarity with Rockville's schemes should serve him well in his first season at the helm of the program.
“I’m very familiar with our offensive and defensive systems,” he said. “Kevin and I brought that over from Sherwood.”
Kenton, 35, graduated from Baylor University and holds a master’s degree from in Westminster. He coached high school football in Texas before coming to Maryland.
He also is the head coach for indoor and outdoor track at Rockville, where he teaches biology.
Kenton expects the 2012 schedule to be a challenge for the Rams.
“It’s still going to be tough,” he said. “Starting with and having Damascus and back-to-back, that’s pretty tough.
“It’s not out of the question if we go 5-5, 6-4, but we’ve got to stay healthy.”
