Richard Montgomery racked up yardage by the air and on the ground and the defense stifled the Rockville attack as the Rockets downed the Rams, 35-14 in a cross-town high school football rivalry game on Friday.
Senior quarterback Steven Burchett (7 of 16 for 214 yards) threw for two touchdowns and ran for 91 of the host Rockets’ 202 yards.
Richard Montgomery's defense, led by senior safety Tyler Coleman, who intercepted three passes, repeatedly stuffed Rockville behind the line of scrimmage.
Rockville tied the game in the first quarter on a 1-yard Brigman run. But Richard Montgomery scored touchdowns twice in both the second and fourth quarters, including an 82-yard strike from Burchett to senior Jose Ortiz to put the game away.
