School Shooting Threat Found in Montgomery College Stairwell

The message reportedly said: 'school shooting 3/5/14.'

Montgomery College is on alert Wednesday after an ominous message was discovered on campus in Rockville.

As a result of the message—"school shooting 3/5/14"—there will be an increased police presence on campus Wednesday, according to WUSA 9, which reported the message has been erased from the stairwell where it was found.

It was discovered Feb. 24 in the campus center in Rockville, according to WTOP, and the Montgomery County Police, Rockville City Police and Maryland Center for School Safety were notified.

Students reported on the college's Facebook page that several professors had canceled class for Wednesday. Some referenced a memo from campus security.

According to WJLA, the memo was sent out Friday to make students aware that all three campuses would have increased police presence on Wednesday.

In January, another threat was made at Montgomery College's Germantown campus, according to The Gazette, which reported that threat referenced a "big school shooting" in a message on a bathroom wall.

The college encouraged all students to report suspicious activity.
