More than 800 graduates participated in Montgomery College's 66th commencement ceremony in Rockville on Friday, May 24. The College provided Patch with scenes from the graduation.

Montgomery College celebrated its 66th commencement ceremony in Rockville on Friday.

More than 800 participated in the ceremony at the campus’s athletic field. A college spokesperson said that more than 3,000 students completed graduation requirements from the college’s Germantown, Rockville, and Takoma Park/Silver Spring campuses, as well with apprenticeship graduates in Workforce Development & Continuing Education programs.

This year's commencement speaker was Norman R. Augustine, retired chairman and CEO of the board of Lockheed Martin Corporation, who also received an honorary degree from the two-year school.

There were also speeches from this year’s Board of Trustees Scholars: Evelyn Zavala Morales, Workforce Development & Continuing Education Apprenticeship Scholar; Joel Collins Sati, Rockville Campus Scholar; Kathleen M. Burns, Germantown Campus Scholar, and James E. Hazelrig, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus Scholar.

Honorary degrees were awarded to: Nina H. Clarke, a retired educator and former Aspen Hill Elementary School principal; Kenneth C. Cook, president and vice chairman of Revere Bank, and Sally Rudney, philanthropist and founder of The Community Foundation for Montgomery County.
