Winston Churchill High School was temporarily evacuated on a very cold Tuesday morning after a malfunctioning pipe triggered a fire alarm, a Montgomery County Public Schools spokesman said.

School officials determined there was no fire.

The school was evacuated for about 10 minutes. While there were no reports of emergencies at Churchill, there were grumblings from students who did not enjoy having to brave the cold.

Tuesday's high was forecast for 14 degrees, with a windchill as low as -9.

10 minutes? Are you just reprinting a MCPS press release. Check the time on the Tweets from the students. It was closer to 30 minutes, but MCPS didn't want you to say that.
