How Do We Learn? What Drives Academic Performance? Could Your Child Get Better Grades Without Struggling So Much?

You have probably invested a lot of time and resources to ensure your child will have the best possible education and opportunities in life.   Even when you feel that you have access to everything-- the greatest schools, private tutors, the most dynamic, dedicated teachers, a solid family life, and all kinds of extracurricular enrichment-- learning may still be a struggle.  Why?

The most common root cause of learning struggles is underlying cognitive skill weakness. A ten-year study by the National Institute of Health concluded that 88% of learning difficulties resulted from weak cognitive skills.

What are cognitive skills? They are the foundational mental skills that determine how a person thinks and learns, might be the missing piece. When memory, attention, logic & reasoning, auditory & visual processing, and processing speed are at their best, a child is able to engage with and learn new information naturally and easily. When one of these skills is lacking, a person's ability to work through complex problems, analyze information and make connections is hindered.
