Family Hoarding Support Group

Jewish Social Services Agency (JSSA) and The City of Gaithersburg Hoarding Task Force present a session support group for family members of adults struggling with hoarding behaviors.

The first hour of each session will feature an expert guest speaker, the second hour will provide facilitated, open, honest and confidential discussion.  Each session will be co-facilitated by licensed social workers.

March 1, 2011: 5:30-7:30 p.m. - A clinical overview and research regarding compulsive hoarding behavior featuring, Dr. Elspeth Bell, Ph. D., Director, Hoarding Program, The Behavior Therapy Center of Greater Washington.
March 15, 2011:- 5:30 -7:30 p.m. Coordination and the family dynamics of hoarding behavior featuring speaker, Maureen Herndon, Program Manager, Gaithersburg Department of Community and Public Relations and Susan Smith, Disability Coordinator, Housing Opportunities Commission Service.
March 29, 2011:- 5:30-7:30 p.m. Methods to tackle behavior, costs, benefits & frequency featuring guest speaker, Alisa Levy, Professional Organizer specializing in chronic disorganization.
April 5, 2011:- 5:30-7:30 p.m. Insight into Mont. County fire and code enforcement & policy as it relates to hoarding featuring guest speaker, Matthew Kelleher, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service and Steve Rainone, Code Administration Officer, City of Gaithersburg.
