Ribbon Cutting: Choice Hotels International Headquarters

The Fortune 500 company broke ground on the new site in 2011.

Local leaders officially welcomed Choice Hotels International to Rockville during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday. Choice broke ground on the new building in August 2011. 

Choice employees moved into to the new building April 8.

During the ceremony, Clayton Foulger of Foulger & Pratt—the Rockville-based firm that constructed and owns the building—announced that his firm planned to donate $15,000 to Rebuilding Together, a nonprofit that makes free home repairs for low-income homeowners.

Choice Hotels CEO Stephen P. Joyce thanked the cadre of city, state and county leaders at the ceremony for the warm welcome to Rockville. The Fortune 500 company received more than $4 million to help facilitate its relocation from Silver Spring. 

Rockville City Councilwoman Bridget Donnell Newton spoke on behalf of the Mayor and Council—councilmen Mark Pierzchala and Tom Moore were also in attendance.

Steve Silverman, director the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, spoke on behalf of County Executive Isiah Leggett (D). U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Dist. 8) of Kensington and Maryland Sen. Jennie Forehand (D-Dist. 17) of Rockville also offered remarks.
