Wanted: Businesses To Feel Appreciated

REDI seeks companies to highlight during Business Appreciation Week.

, the nonprofit public-private economic development arm of the City of Rockville, is seeking businesses to highlight during its annual Rockville Business Appreciation Week, March 12-16.

During the week, companies around Rockville host visits from teams comprising REDI staff and board members, the mayor and Rockville City Council, chamber of commerce officials and staff from the city and from the county’s economic development department.

REDI “ambassador teams” meet with businesses to thank them for locating in Rockville and to gain a better understanding of their needs. Teams provide host companies with information regarding programs and resources available to local businesses.

REDI interacts with many of the more than 4,500 businesses within the city limits throughout the course of the year, but provides special attention during Business Appreciation Week.

During the week, REDI collects economic information about potential job gains or losses, talent recruitment needs, business expansions and space requirements.

Rockville-based companies employ more than 49,000 people and contribute nearly $14 million dollars in property taxes to the city each year—40.4 percent of the city’s total property tax revenue, according to REDI.

REDI supports including the StartRight! Women’s Business Plan Competition and the PostDoc Conference and Career Fair. Other programs include Rockville-based MIT Enterprise Forums, the INNoVATE entrepreneur development program and the .
