VIDEO: City Gives Britton a Warm Send-Off

After more than a decade of service to Rockville, Councilman John Britton is leaving office.

John Britton attended his final meeting as a member of the Rockville City Council on Monday.

After five years on the city's Planning Commission and four years on the City Council, , citing "personal and professional" reasons.

The council honored Britton with a reception before Monday's meeting. During the meeting, the council viewed a video presentation, produced by Rockville 11, which can be seen above.

"I don't anticipate that it'll go viral," Britton joked about the montage of his four years on the council, including footage of him with and without facial hair.

Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio remarked about the many residents who stopped by the farewell reception for Britton.

"There were so many people who came by, wished him well and wished he were still here—and I guess he still will be with us in one way or another," Marcuccio said. "As he said, he's coming to Citizen's Forum. So watch out."
