Rockville Scholars: Filitsa Katsani
The Rockville High School graduate will study environmental engineering in the fall.
Filitsa Katsani received a $2,000 college grant from the Rockville Scholarship Foundation, Inc.
"Be the change you wish to see" is Katsani's motto. Originally from Greece, the graduate, says she plans to make a positive impact on the global community. Katsani has accomplished much in the two years she has lived in the United States, maintaining a high grade point average while completing honors and AP classes.
Her connection to the struggling country of Greece drove her to pursue a career in civil or environmental engineering at Montgomery College and eventually George Washington University.
