Rockville Hires New IT Director

Nicholas Obodo will start new role in November.

Rockville will soon have a new IT director.

On Monday, city officials announced the hiring of Nicholas Obodo, who will start the job in mid-November.

Odobo replaces Michael Cannon, who had served as Rockville’s IT director since 2000.

Assistant City Manager Jennifer Kimball said Cannon left to take another IT position with an association that serves local governments.

According to a city news release, Obodo was the Director of Information Technology & Infrastructure for Massachusetts’s Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development and has also worked as an IT director for various agencies in Boston. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Enugu State University of Science and Technology.

Obodo will be paid $145,000 annually, Kimball said.
