Restaurant Gives Free Tacos to Voters

Hungry voters can get free tacos at the Potomac California Tortilla restaurant.

On Election Day, voters can get more than the satisfaction of knowing their vote counts — they can also get free food.

in the Cabin John Shopping Center is giving free tacos to all customers who are wearing an "I Voted" sticker or who simply say, "I voted."

"We encourage people to go and vote," said Monica Jimenez, manager of the California Tortilla on Tuckerman Lane in Potomac. "It's not a political thing — we don't side with one candidate or the other — we just want people to go out and vote."

The store, which has offered Election Day specials for more than a decade, is expecting several hundred people to visit the store on Tuesday.

"This is a tradition since we opened the restaurant to do stuff during election time," Jimenez said. "We have fun with it. When people were voting for presidential candidates last year we named the burritos after candidates."
