Most City Recreation Facilities Closed

Indoor pools only are open at the Swim and Fitness Center, which is without power.

Most City of Rockville facilities are closed and many recreation programs are canceled as the city cleans up from Friday’s storm.

Many city facilities remain without power, the city announced in a news release on its Web site.

Rockville summer camps and summer playground activities are canceled for Monday and Tuesday. Outdoor adult sports leagues will go on as scheduled.

Classes will be held at the indoor pools at the . The indoor pools will be open to classes and center members only. All other classes are canceled. The outdoor pool does not have power. Classes and open swim hours at the outdoor pool are canceled.

The city will open cooling centers from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following centers:

Trash, recycling and yard waste pickups will go on as usual. Residents should drag storm debris to the curb for their regular pick up. “Branches should be no more than eight feet long and should easily clear overhead power lines and trees so they can be accessed by Rockville's heavy equipment vehicles,” the city’s release said. Patience is encouraged as the city expects a large volume of yard waste.
