Fourth of July Brings Closings, Modified Schedules

County and city offices will be closed. Buses and Metrorail on weekend and holiday schedules.

A number of city and county facilities will be closed in observance of Independence Day on Monday.

In the City of Rockville, the following facilities will be closed:

  • City Hall
  • F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre and Box Office
  • Croydon Creek Nature Center
  • Rockville Civic Center Park offices, including Glenview Mansion and the Glenview Mansion Art Gallery
  • Lincoln Park Community Center
  • Twinbrook Community Recreation Center
  • Thomas Farm Community Center
  • Rockville Senior Center

Other city facilities will be open as usual:

  • Rockville Swim and Fitness Center indoor pool and fitness center.
  • RedGate Municipal Golf Course.

Recycling and trash will not be collected. The collection schedule will shift forward one day for all customers. (Customers whose usual collection day is Monday will have their items picked up on Tuesday, etc. Friday customers should put their items out for Saturday collection. The City of Rockville will present a fireworks display and musical entertainment from 7 to 10 p.m. on Monday at Montgomery College-Rockville Campus, 51 Mannakee St.

Parking will be free at city-owned meters and garages.

In unincorporated parts of Rockville the following facilities will be closed:

  • Montgomery County government offices 
  • County libraries
  • State offices and courts
  • Montgomery County Public Schools and administrative offices
  • The Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station
  • County liquor stores 
  • TRiPS Commuter Stores in Silver Spring and Friendship Heights

Transit services will run on modified schedules:

County recycling and trash will be picked up one day later this week.

Parking will be free at county public garages, lots and curbside meters.
