F. Scott Fitzgerald to be Feted in Rockville Town Square on Sunday

Films, music, a tour and talks among the festivities marking author's birthday.

 

Rockville marks the birthday of literary great F. Scott Fitzgerald with an afternoon of activities on Sunday in Town Center.

The free festivities run from 1 to 4 p.m. at Rockville Town Square:

  • Noon to 4 p.m. Used book sale. (Library)
  • 1 to 1:50 p.m. Rockville Swing Band. (Plaza Stage)
  • 1 to 1:30 p.m. Film Screening of “Bernice Bobs Her Hair.” (Library)
  • 1 to 4 p.m. Arts and Crafts by VisArts at Rockville. (Plaza)
  • 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Walking Tour of Fitzgerald Haunts by Peerless Rockville. (Library Entrance)
  • 2:05 to 2:55 p.m. Rockville Swing Band. (Plaza Stage)
  • 2:30 to 3 p.m. Film Screening of “Last of the Belles.” (Library)
  • 2:45 p.m. Complimentary Cupcake from CakeDreams. (Plaza)
  • 3 to 4 p.m. Reading and talk by Alice McDermott. (Library)
  • 3 to 3:45 p.m. Walking Tour of Fitzgerald Haunts by Peerless Rockville. (Library Entrance)
  • 3 to 4 p.m. Literary Discussion by Jackson Bryer and Eleanor Heginbotham. (Library)

Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda are buried in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church cemetery. The 116th anniversary of his birth is Monday.

The celebration is presented by the in partnership with the City of Rockville and Montgomery College.
