Earth Day 2012: Find a Creek Cleanup

Rockville residents cleaned the stream in Maryvale Park on Saturday.

Earth Day is Sunday. And with it comes a month of creek and stream cleanups around the region.

Rock Creek saw volunteers cleaning its waters and banks on Saturday, , as part of Rock Creek Conservancy's fourth annual Extreme Cleanup. Also Saturday, Rockville residents cleaned the stream at . (See the photos and video above, courtesy of Rockville 11.)

The 24th Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup on Saturday included 344 registered sites throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. By Tuesday morning, 169 sites and 4,054 volunteers had reported the following haul to the cleanup's website:
