Duncan Says He's 'Exploring Things' for 2014

Focus for now is Delaney's congressional bid, former county executive says.

Douglas M. Duncan said Tuesday nothing has changed as he contemplates his political future.

“I’m looking at all my options,” Duncan said in a telephone interview.

His comments followed a report that he is narrowing his focus on .

“I’m not running for governor, not running for Congress,” Duncan, the county executive from 1995 through 2007, told Rockville Patch.

Duncan said he’s not particularly focused on the , but is “exploring things” to see “where I’d be the best fit.”

He said he has not conducted any polling, nor does he have any immediate plans to do so.

“I’m going to a lot of events, talking to a lot of people,” said Duncan, who has remained a visible presence around the county since abandoning a campaign for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2006.

Duncan said he attended a fundraiser on Monday at for , a Gaithersburg-based nonprofit that offers developmentally disabled people hands-on training for jobs in baking.

Duncan is chairman of John Delaney’s campaign for the 6th District Congressional seat. As such, Duncan has been and organizing events for the Democratic nominee.

“For me, that’s the most important thing—to get him elected,” Duncan said.

He also is chairman of the Suburban Maryland Transportation Alliance and has a consulting business in which he is involved in redevelopment and technology projects.
