The council will discuss a draft profile of what a city manager should bring to the job. Springsted, Inc., the firm that the city is paying $20,800 to conduct the city manager search, developed the profile.

The draft profile (which can be read in full by clicking on the PDF at the right of this article) is based on interviews with council members, city staff and community leaders, and on research of the city charter and code, the city’s website and other online resources.

A new city manager would command a salary “of $190,000 to $220,000 negotiable dependent upon qualifications and experience,” according to the draft profile.

The draft profile lists seven objectives that likely would make up the new city manager’s performance evaluation. Among them are “effective interaction, communication and timely response to requests” by the City Council, accessibility to citizens, and increased cooperation with other local jurisdictions and the state and federal government.
