Woman Found Unconscious at Rockville City Jail

A woman was found unconscious on Tuesday morning in a holding cell at the Rockville City Police Department and was hospitalized in non-life threatening condition, Chief Terrance N. Treschuk said.

Angela Dessi, 20, of Cabin John, was arrested on Tuesday morning and cited with theft from , Treschuk said.

Treschuk said that Dessi “passed out” while in a holding cell at the city police station, which is located on the bottom floor of .

“She appeared to have some seizures,” he said.

The county fire and rescue service was called at about 11:30 a.m. With an ambulance on the way, Dessi became unconscious, Treschuk said.

There was no indication that she was in medical distress before she passed out, Treschuk said. 

Dessi was taken to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Treschuk said.

“She was admitted and [her condition is] not life-threatening at this time,” he said.

A call and email to the hospital were not immediately returned.

Update, 5:15 p.m., April 13: Jennifer Plaia, a Shady Grove Adventist Hospital spokeswoman, said Wednesday afternoon that the hospital had no record of Dessi as a patient.
