Two Montgomery County Teens Arrested for Armed Robbery

Police have apprehended Joseph Grullon-Rosa, 18, of Rockville, and Abner Isai Monjaras, 17, of Germantown.

Two local teenagers were arrested this week for a string of armed robberies of taxicabs and food delivery trucks.

Detectives of the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Robbery Section believe Joseph Grullon-Rosa, 18, of the 12500 block of Veirs Mill Road in Rockville and Abner Isai Monjaras, 17, of the 13200 block of Trimfield Lane in Germantown, are responsible for six robberies in Rockville and Germantown between Feb. 14 and Feb. 22.

Just after midnight on Feb. 22, a cab driver reported to police that he had been robbed at gunpoint by two Hispanic males near the 12700 block of Veirs Mill Road in Rockville. The suspects fled on foot and were not apprehended until later that night when police in Prince George’s County caught them after an attempt to rob another cab there.

The men are in custody in Prince George's County, pending court proceedings for their alleged crimes in that jurisdiction. A press release issued by the Montgomery County police indicates Grullon-Rosa and Monjaras will be charged in Montgomery County with "armed robbery, robbery, theft under $1000, failure to pay cab fare, conspiracy to commit robbery and theft for the Feb. 22 incident. Additional charges for the other armed robberies are pending."
