Update, 11:11 p.m.
Most law enforcment personnel are leaving the vicinity of the elementary school.
At approximately 11:05 p.m., authorities told neighborhood residents who had been displaced by the incident that they could return home unless they lived on Pitt Place or Fordham Street.
The Montgomery County Police Department has not released the exact address where the suspect was found dead.
Update, 10:51 p.m.
The Montgomery County Police Department has confirmed Joseph Phillip Gilberti is dead.
In a televised press conference, Montgomery Police Chief Tom Manger said Gilberti had a "signficant" criminal history. He was found dead in a house with a gun near College Gardens Elementary School in Rockville, Manger said.
"I’m just glad we were able to resolve this case without further loss of life," he said.
Update, 9:58 p.m.
Patch Editor Sebastian Montes, on scene at the 1700 block of Yale Place near College Gardens Elementary, reports there approximately 100 emergency personnel on scene. Police have staged a mobile command center on school grounds.
Authorities still have not indicated which address near the school the SWAT team is targeting.
Update, 9:39 p.m.
Montgomery County Police spokeswoman Janelle Smith said residents returning home near College Gardens Elementary in Rockville are not able to do so at this time. Certain streets near the school are on lock-down as a SWAT team has mobilized in the area.
A Patch editor learned via Twitter that one area resident said his wife was not allowed to go home. Police diverted her to nearby Princeton Place, he said.
Residents already at home have not been evacuated, the police spokeswoman said.
Montgomery County Police are staging a SWAT team at in Rockville.
A spokeswoman for the department said authorities have received a lead connected to the earlier Tuesday. She would not comment which address the SWAT team is targeting near the elementary school.
Heather Lynn McGuire, 36, was killed in the incident. McGuire was a mother of six from Rockville. She was also the estranged wife of the suspected shooter, Joseph Phillip Gilberti, 51. McGuire and Gilberti were divorcing.
Gilberti remains at large.
