Update: Man in Custody After SWAT Team Sent to Rockville Home

Man barricaded himself inside home on Azalea Drive.

(Updated 10:30 a.m.) A man who barricaded himself inside a Woodley Gardens home Wednesday has been taken into police custody from his doorstep, Montgomery County police told Patch.

The man was taken into custody at around 9:30 a.m. and was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation, said police spokeswoman Angela Cruz.

No one was injured, Cruz said.

SWAT had been called to the 600 block of Azalea Drive around 6:30 a.m., for domestic incident involving a man who reportedly had a gun.

Police had not yet recovered a gun but were still looking, according to Cruz.

(Original) A SWAT team was called to a home in Rockville's Woodley Gardens neighborhood on Wednesday, following a report of a domestic incident involving an armed man who has barricaded himself inside.  

As of 9:20 a.m., emergency response teams were still on the scene and portions of the neighborhood had been blocked off.

“He hasn't made any threats to the police,” said Officer Rebecca Innocenti,a Montgomery County police spokeswoman. “We're just trying to contact him, ask him to come out of the residence.”

The man was inside a home in the 600 block of Azalea Drive, Innocenti said. A female who fled the home called the police around 6:30 a.m. and said a male inside had a gun.
