Saturday Car Crash Kills Rockville Man

The crash took place on Viers Mill Road at Twinbrook Parkway.

Montgomgery County Police continue investigating a Saturday morning accident that killed a Rockville man, 26. The car in which he was riding hit a tree on Viers Mill Road at the intersection of Twinbrook Parkway.

The police issued the following press release on Saturday:

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single-vehicle fatal collision that occurred early this morning in Rockville.

This morning at approximately 4:15 a.m., a Montgomery County police officer, traveling westbound on Veirs Mill Road, encountered a single-vehicle collision at the intersection of Twinbrook Parkway.  

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006, Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound on Veirs Mill Road. For reasons still under investigation, the Hyundai Sonata left the roadway at the intersection of Twinbrook Parkway and traveled onto the center median of the roadway. On the median, the vehicle struck a tree and road sign. The driver of the Hyundai was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The front seat passenger of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Danielle Delores Donaldson, age 21, of the 13500 block of Hayworth Drive in Rockville.

The deceased, front seat passenger of the vehicle has been identified as Nashon O Brian Barnett, age 26, of the 300 block of Cedar Lane in Rockville.   

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed this fatal collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435. Callers may remain anonymous.
