Rockville to Hold Police Station Grand Opening Oct. 20

Dedication and open house will showcase new Town Center headquarters.

 

If you’ve wondered what the inside of the new Rockville City Police Department headquarters looks like—but have never wanted to get “taken downtown”—now you have a good reason to visit. 

The city will hold a grand opening of the new police station at 2 West Montgomery Avenue in Town Center on Oct. 20.

There will be a dedication ceremony at 10 a.m., followed by an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Parking will be available at City Hall or in the Town Center garages.

The new station combines the renovated 11,415-square-foot historic U.S. Post Office and a newly constructed 14,538-square-foot annex.

The station handles all police-related functions including:

  • Landlord/tenant affairs.
  • Code enforcement/community enhancement.
  • The photo enforcement unit.
  • Neighborhood services (animal control).
  • The victim advocate program.

The department moved into its new home on Sept. 21.

People in need of police assistance or looking to pay a ticket or fine should visit the new headquarters, not City Hall.

All police phone numbers and email addresses will remain the same.
