Rockville City Police: Woman Assaulted, Robbed By Purse Snatchers

The following incidents were supplied by Rockville City Police. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Police said a female was assaulted and robbed in the unit block of Pines Court as she exited her car on the night of May 9. Police said the female was getting a bag out of her vehicle at around 8:30 p.m., when a male reached from behind her and grabbed it. The bag contained her purse, money from her business and credit cards.

There was a struggle for the bag and someone hit the female, took the bag and left the scene. Police said two males were involved but did not provide a detailed description of them.

2100 block of Wootton Parkway—a 16-year-old boy was arrested on charges of opium possession and drug paraphernalia and May 6 at 10:58 a.m.

5800 block of Halpine Road—a 66-year-old man was arrested on charges of second-degree assault, alcohol/beverage intoxication endangerment and disorderly conduct on May 6, at around 5:10 p.m.

1300 block of Rockville Pike—A 23-year-old man was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and two counts obstructing and hindering for an incident reported at around 11:45 p.m. May 9.

1500 block of Rockville Pike—A 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man were arrested on charges of theft following an incident reported at around 5 p.m. May 8.

500 block of West Gude Drive—A 46-year-old man was arrested on charges of possessing PCP and four traffic violations on May 9, at around 5:45 p.m.

Unit block of Mannakee Street—A 39-year-old man was arrested on charges of trespassing on May 10 at 9:15 a.m.

 

Incidents

 

100 block of West Montgomery Avenue—Copper gutter downspouts taken from a church between 5 p.m. May 6 and 11 a.m. May 8.

300 block of Gruenther Avenue—A laptop, camera, jewelry, money, a cell phone and a check were reported stolen from a residendce between 8:30 and 11 a.m. on May 7. Police said a back window of the home was smashed.

1500 block of Rockville Pike— An iPad was reported stolen from an unattended shopping cart at around 11 a.m. May 7.

5600 block of Pier Drive—Money was taken from a home between 9:30 and 11:20 a.m. on May 8. Police said a rear door window was broken into.

2000 block of Stanley Avenue—A laptop was taken from a room at a group rental house on May 11 at 2:58 p.m.

300 block of Broadwood Drive—A laptop was taken from a residence between 3:45 and 4:45 a.m. on May 12. Police said the front door of the home was unlocked.
