An unknown suspect or suspects “rummaged through two unlocked vehicles” at a home in the 4300 block of Prince Road in Rockville between 11:30 p.m. on July 24 and 7 a.m. on July 25, police said.

Another report of a theft from a vehicle on July 25 came from a home in the 4400 block of Oak Hill Road in Rockville—less than a mile from the home in the aforementioned incident.

In the latter incident, an unknown suspect stole jewelry from an unlocked vehicle during the overnight hours, a police statement said.

Detectives in the police department’s 4th District Property Crimes Unit investigated and found that a security camera from a home in the 4300 block of Prince Road had captured a suspect on video trying to open the doors of the resident’s vehicle, the statement said.

After being unable to gain entry to the vehicle, the suspect is seen entering the home’s unlocked garage and searching the interior of the garage using a flashlight. The suspect—who police say is male—is seen leaving without taking anything.

County police on Wednesday released a photo of the suspect. Police are asking anyone who recognizes him to call the 4th District Petty Crime Unit at 240-773-5476. Callers may remain anonymous.

Police are also reminding people to help prevent theft by locking vehicle doors and garages.
