Update: 2 Charged in Aspen Hill Shooting

Police identify 21-year-old victim.

Update, 7:58 pm.: The two charged in Wednesday's shooting death are Christopher Edwards, 20, of the 13200 block of Superior Street in Rockville and Andrew Ramos, 19, of no fixed address, police said.

Edwards was charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of reckless endangerment and is currently being held in lieu of bail.

Ramos was charged with one count of reckless endangerment and bai was set at $20,000. Both have a bond review hearing scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. in Rockville District Court.

Police identified the victim as Hugo Yupe, 21, of the 12000 block of Veirs Mill Road in Rockville.

Police said Ramos was the one who left the scene, and Edwards was the one who remained who summoned assistance.

Original post: Montgomery County Police are investigating how a young man died of a gunshot wound Wednesday afternoon in Aspen Hill.

The incident occurred about 3:20 p.m. at a home in the 13200 block of Superior Street, police said. 

Police said three young adult males, whom they did not identify, were inside the home when the shooting occurred, and for reason still under investigation, one was shot. After the shooting, one male left the scene, and another male remained to summon assistance, police said.

Police found the young man who left the scene. Both men are speaking with detectives regarding the event, police said.  

Investigators believe that the three males were acquainted with each other, although the type of  relationship cannot be confirmed at this time.  No charges have been placed and the investigation is ongoing.
