Four suspects are being sought for kidnapping and robbery after a man staying at a Marriott Hotel was reportedly held at gunpoint Thursday as his friend was forced to go to a nearby bank to withdraw money.
Montgomery County Police say three men and a woman knocked on the door of a guest about 6:30 a.m. at the Marriott Courtyard at Cherry Hill Road and Columbia Pike. When the man opened the door the suspects entered the room, one armed with a handgun. They demanded money from the victim – who said he was at Maryland Live Casino Thursday night -- and he gave them an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspects reportedly said the man didn’t hand over enough money and he would have to provide more.
The victim then called a friend and asked him to come to the room. The second victim was also held in the hotel room until he was taken by gunpoint to the Bank of America, 11499 Columbia Pike, to withdraw money.
Before approaching the bank teller, police say, the victim wrote a note on a withdrawal slip asking the teller to contact police. The teller called 9-1-1 and the suspects fled.
A short time later, police were called to the Home Depot at 2300 Broadbirch Drive, where the victim who had been left behind at the hotel had fled.
Neither victim was injured in this incident.
