UPDATE: Pedestrian Struck By CSX Train

The Gazette: A 22-year-old man suffered serious injuries.

Updated, 3 p.m., June 12:

County police say that a 22-year-old man was struck by a train on Monday night while playing “a game” with a 21-year-old woman, The Washington Examiner reported.

Authorities have not identified the man or the woman. They are both from Gaithersburg, The Washington Post reported.

The man was taken to the shock trauma unit at in Bethesda with serious injuries, The Gazette reported. Police are investigating.

Original post, 11:20 p.m., June 11:

A pedestrian was struck by a CSX train near the intersection of Nebel Street and Randolph Road in North Bethesda on Monday night, a county fire and rescue spokesman said.

Assistant Chief Scott Graham tweeted the following at 9:29 p.m.:

"@MCFirePIO MCFRS Rockville CXS Nebel St/Randolph Rd. Pedestrian struck by train. Priority 1 to local trauma ctr. No further from Fire/Rescue. Thx Scott"

The victim is an adult male, WUSA9 reported.

Traffic was stopped near the scene of the incident, to which emergency crews reported at 9:16 p.m., WUSA9 reported on its Web site. There were no major traffic problems, WUSA9 reported during its 11 p.m. broadcast.
