A woman who was hit by a Ride On bus Tuesday while walking near the Rockville Metro station has died, according to a report by NBC-4.

The bus was reportedly turning onto N. Stonestreet Avenue, where the driver hit the woman, who was in her 60s; medics drove her to a nearby hospital, where she died. The woman was not identified.

The driver of the bus was cooperating with police on the scene Tuesday night.

It's not yet clear if the woman was in the crosswalk when she was hit.

Following to see whether this was driver error or pedestrian error. I nearly took out not one but TWO pedestrians who meandered, texting, across the crosswalks when I had the green; since I was in the right lane, I nearly didn't see them in time to stop as they emerged from behind the cars in the other lanes as I neared the crosswalks. Afterward, 2 more pedestrians zipped across 355, nowhere near crosswalks, in the heavy snow, as I headed north from the Metro station, and one I had to brake hard to avoid hitting. This has been a more and more frequent occurrence, especially in the Town Center and Metro Station areas for me; it was only a matter of time before someone got hit, and with tragic results. :-(
