Mother Apparently Unknowingly Struck Child with SUV in Potomac Driveway

A 7-year-old girl remains in critical condition after her mother apparently unknowingly hit the child while backing out her Mercedes SUV Sunday and then drove on to the grocery store, Montgomery County police said in a news release.

Notified by a neighbor shortly after 9:30 p.m., police found the girl lying unresponsive in the roadway in the 9900 block of Potomac Manors Drive, police said.

Police said the mother may have inadvertently struck the child as she was exiting the family’s driveway to go grocery shopping, according to police.
