Man Hit By Motorcycle on Hungerford Drive

Police are investigating a collision that left a pedestrian and a motorcyclist hospitalized.

County police are investigating an incident in which a motorcycle struck a Washington, D.C. man as he attempted to cross Hungerford Drive north of Rockville Town Center on Sunday evening.

The pedestrian, identified as Qin Xi Lin, 67, of the 400 block of 2nd Street, N.W., Washington, D.C., is in critical condition at an area hospital, according to a news release from county police.

The man was crossing Hungerford Drive south of Frederick Avenue at 6:53 p.m., according to a preliminary police investigation. He was not in a crosswalk as he attempted to cross at the middle of the 800 block of Hungerford Drive, said Officer Howard Hersh, a county police spokesman.

After stepping from the center median toward the northbound shoulder, he was struck by a motorcycle traveling northbound, Hersh said.

The motorcycle driver, Aziz Urrehman Hameed, 26, of the 400 block of Carousel Court in Gaithersburg, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the release said.

Police continue to investigate the incident and have not yet decided whether charges will be filed against either man, Hersh said.
